1It is an herbaceous, perennial herb with aromatic rhizome.
Its principle constituent are zingiberene (α and β zingiberene) and
zingiberol. Zinger is carminative, expectorant, stimulant and used
to warm the respiratory system and gastrointestinal tract. It is a
household remedy for indigestion, gas, bloating and cough and cold.
2Ginger is consumed for prevention of the symptoms of
travel and motion sickness.. The efficacy of ginger rhizome for the
prevention of nausea, dizziness, and vomiting as symptoms of motion
sickness (kinetosis), as well as for postoperative vomiting and vomiting
